In addition, political participation and representation of disabled people is still dismal in comparison to able bodied individuals (Prince, 2009). Thus, in structuring the meeting it is vital to give out a copy of the meeting’s agenda to the official, and then point out that disabled people are not adequately represented in the public, and this could also include brief mention on previous laws that call for equality. Because disability is a social issue this strategy would highlight on the need for the official to implement policies that touch disability especially in the work place as this would facilitate more social inclusion.
After introduction from the chair of the meeting on disability in the society and workplace, it is essential to also introduce a disabled person who also gives a brief account of their experience in the workplace or in their quest for jobs. This helps to align the issue of policy making and recognition of rights in the workplace. The number of participants has a direct impact on the success of the meeting and hence the person chosen should be sensitized to prepare adequately on the most relevant matter concerning disability. Similarly, the participant should align the message with the relevant Act or Law which advocates for equality.
