Question 1
The most significant problem that I always encounter in leadership is anxiety. I know people have high expectations from their leaders and such make leaders anxious. As a member of the Youth Union Affair Advisory Committee of the Shenzhen, I was requested to be head the committee during a fund drive that involved seeking aid from different enterprises and business people for a startup of group owned Stationery Outlet. The activity was one of the significant events within the program that was to be carried out during the year. I decided to form a meeting with the group members and delegate duties to every person to reduce the time and efficiently utilize the allocated resources. Besides, this was an essential moment to share out our ideologies, mission and the benefits of the project to the public, the community as well as advertise the idea for interested investors. The event was successful and the money raised was channeled towards the opening of a stationery store. The experience taught me to be a good leader and efficient management of the team. I learned about coordination as one of the team members and sharing of ideas to ensure good results. Eventually, I overcame the anxiety (Meagher, 2017).
Question 2
As a leader and team member, I have learned to be inspirational especially when the team members face challenges and hardships handling group assignments. During such times people need motivation and encouragement. In orphanage in Shenzhen, we conducted a research on the problems with the organization. Thus, our project focused on employee motivation. I was the secretary of the group and together supervisor we developed a motivation forum. During the meetings we consulted the management on the best methods to improve on motivation. Our team came up with suggestion to the management of orphanage that included onsite childcare program, provision of flexible employee leaves, improvement of salaries and welcoming ideas of the junior staffs. After three months, the organization began registering improvement in daily activities and low turnover of employees with positive feedback from orphans and the community in Shenzhen. Besides, the employees started to feel part of the organization and showed positivity. Thus, I learned the art of projecting hope and positivity while maintaining focus through the elimination of weaknesses and negativity. Such leadership skills enhanced my boldness and trust for my talent. Currently, I am finishing my school program and planning to attend a course on cyber management that will help me develop skills regarding risk assessments and migration of problems after joining college. Besides, I am planning to participate in a workshop on an appraisal that will improve my skills on effective management of the enterprise after school (Meagher, 2017).
Question 3
I am an innovative and self-conscientious leader with three years of experience as a supervisor performing the supervisory functions such as planning, organizing and controlling. Besides, as the team leader during summer holiday, I liaised with the supervisor to conduct staffing, leading and motivating employees from orphanage in Shenzhen. I participated in the delegation of duties at my father’s home office hence he did not get worried about the outcome. Currently, father sees me as an industrious person who is responsible for any action and does not take any action for granted (Meagher, 2017).
Separately, mother always describes my behavior as compassionate especially when handling my siblings. She loves sitting near our table and observe how I manage the needs of the siblings, especially on weekends. Lastly, my friends and colleagues enjoy my company and describe me as a friendly, loyal, listener, and cooperating. Besides, some of my colleagues describe me as an honest, caring, empathetic and respectful person. I love reaching out to friends and helping them at their points of needs besides working together to achieve a common objective, especially at the orphanage. Lastly, I am proud to be a good listener who learns new ideas from different people and accept corrections. I have been benefiting from the constructive feedbacks with positive criticism within the team where I work (Meagher, 2017).
