Critical thinking must be demonstrated in each answered question.
Group A
1. Research and discuss the various programs in place in your community and your
university that are inclusive of athletes with a physical or intellectual disability. How can
you get involved?
2. How does physical activity for older adults compare to that of a person in their 20s?
Compare and discuss the benefits of physical activity at an older age. What are the
differences in physical activity preferences between younger and older adults?
3. Does sport play a positive role in promoting diversity and equal opportunity? How can
sports challenge the views of race logic and help transform racial and ethical relations?
4. To equalize the number of scholarships for men and women at Universities, should
leaving out football out of Title IX an equitable solution? If not, what other ideas would
you for an athletic director who faces the increasing cost without an increasing budget.
Group B
1. Although the United States prides itself as a “classless” nation, there is little doubt that
our capitalistic society with its emphasis on finances and material possessions divides
people quickly into groups of those who have money and possessions and those who do
not. Using the traditional definitions of social class that include a person’s economic,
cultural, and social capital, do you believe each of these three components have equal
value? Rate their relative importance by assigning a percentage to each one and justify
your classification.
2. As American trends move toward sport specialization at younger ages, the financial
burden on families to pay for sport training, coaching, and competition has gradually
pushed many youth sports out of reach for middle- and lower- class families. Without
government funding to support youth sports programs as is done in many other countries,
it appears most American youth will be shut out from high-performance training for
sports, thus limiting our pool of athletes at the elite level. Within our political system,
how can these trends be reversed to provide equal opportunity to all youth if they have
the talent, desire, and work ethic to compete at the highest levels?
3. Do you believe that the partnership between sports and religion in the United States has
been positive or negative? Why or why not? Do you believe that athletic coaches should
separate their personal spiritual beliefs from their coaching responsibilities or duties?
Why or why not? Discuss the role of faith in relationship to sport.

How does physical activity for older adults compare to those in their 20s? Compare and discuss the benefits of physical activity at an older age. What are the differences in physical activity preferences between younger and older adults?
Physical activities are fundamental for younger and older persons for varied reasons. For instance, they contribute to the growth spurt in the youths, maintain energy levels and strengths among the adults, and avert degeneration, among other age-related challenges during older ages. Van Der Zee et al. (2019) confirm that diverse aspects affect exercise routines, intensity, and preferences across the lifespan (p. 4). As a result, the exercise commonplace among individuals in their 60s and beyond differs significantly from those in their 20s, including the benefits and preferences.
Trends reveal that physical activities for older adults have striking differences from those practices by younger persons in their 20s. For instance, Van Der Zee et al. (2019) highlight that while youths practice more team-based exercise, these activities reduce as individuals age beyond 40 years (p. 5). These aging persons shift towards solitary physical activities, whose frequency of occurrence in the 20s remains significantly minimal. Besides these primary domains, Woods and Butler (2021) indicate that older people’s exercises are more moderate without excessive exertion than younger generations’ contrasting routines (p. 619). The authors report that persons in their 20s engage in intensive performance-based and extreme adventures because of their physical adaptation to withstand such demands. Thus, these elements illustrate the changes in physical activities in various facets as one ages.
Maintaining reasonable exercise in older ages assists individuals to lengthen their lives while maintaining higher quality. According to Woods and Butler (2021), while younger people benefit from the athleticism of engaging in physical activities, the advantages drawn by the aging population are more health-based (p. 778). Such an aspect reflects 1 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 27’s teaching about disciplining the body and maintaining control. Thus, regular physical activities slow aging and keep these individuals younger. Woods and Butler (2021) argue that maintaining body weight becomes more challenging with advancing age (p. 778). As a result, exercise has become fundamental for body weight control, which also contributes to averting related health complications. Other direct benefits include enhanced energy, bone strength, and physical activities that prevent age-related issues such as falls. Such aspects demonstrate the increasing importance o...
