My name is Sylwia. I am a twenty-eight year old wife, mother of Kevin and Daniel. Besides, I am a medical assistant in Dr. Reznick office. My life with Penn Foster started a few years ago, after Kevin was born. At that time, I was a young girl with a lot of dreams. My number one objective was to go to college and become a doctor. However, by the show of things, it was clear that life had chosen a different path for me. My kids are old enough to go to school. Since, my family is not in the United States of America, I knew I would have a big confrontation in front of me. After consulting my husband, we agreed that it was time for me to join school. My friends were happy for us. They wished me good luck and offered their support. For a second time, my life was difficult. My normal day starts at six thirty o`clock in the morning. I get ready for work, make breakfast for my boys and take them to the bus station to get to school on time. In this case, we all rush for the bus because if we miss it then we have to get to school and work late. It has happened a few times. I was late at work and I did not have time to organize for forty patients to be seen by the doctor, and at the same time prepare myself for all the duties I had to carry out. Despite all this, I am happy and lucky for the job I have. Dr. Reznick`s office is busy and time goes fast.
The work I do is very stressful. Some patients are difficult and frustrating. Periodically, they turn down my help. As soon as the day is over, I hurry up to pick my boys from school. Back at home, I have to cook dinner for my family. It`s definitely hard to balance the two, but with the great support from my husband and the family, I manage it.
It requires special dedications since I have to coach my boys and help them with homework, despite of having a rough day at work. Each of my kids needs my help. Sometimes, we do homework quickly, at other times we struggle because their minds are on the games. After all the screaming and yelling, we are finally done with homework. However, my struggle is not over yet. Getting the boys to bed is the worst nightmare I usually have. My boys like to sleep with me. I realize that they are too big but after all the drama I do what they want. After talking to them, they fall asleep. Then I am glad to be able to clean the house and do the laundry. At the end of the day, I want to spend time with my husband too, since we both work. In addition, we do not have much time for each other. But we need to keep our marriage healthy.
