FINAL THOUGHTS
The Pandemic
Since globalization, the world became a small neighborhood where people can easily interact without facing any barriers. People are free to move from one place to another, trade, and do other things. Although globalization has contributed to the development of the global economy, it has also led to the spread of diseases. COVID-19 has become one of the major pandemic diseases that has affected millions of people globally. These crises have affected different developing countries. To curb the spread of the coronavirus, measures like national lockdown have been adopted by different countries. Social distancing has been encouraged as well. These strategies are meant to limit social gatherings and the movement of people.
However, during the crisis, a lot of countries like the United States are considering reopening the economy. This is because economically, nations have been affected. For example, people have lost their jobs. Although nations need to operate economically, I feel that it is not the right decision. Re-opening the economy means that the virus will spread and a lot of people will die from the virus. During this current situation, I will stay at home as much as I can, keep a safe distance, wash my hands often, and wear a mask. Staying at home means that I am not supposed to go to school. Therefore I would prefer to study online and submit my assignments online. I believe that these are the best strategies I should adopt if I want to be safe.
Education
After the outbreak of coronavirus, colleges and universities have taken a lot of measures to curb the spread of the disease. For example, universities have moved to online classes and have instructed students to vacate the university premises. Additionally, spring sports activities have also been canceled. While people thought that these measures were short-term, the current situations seem that schools will be closed for a long time. As students, we were forced into online learning but were are not sure how long it might last. Harris (2020) states that there is a possibility that schools might reopen in 2021. Online learning is very expensive for a lot of families. The author also states that students can resume school on the condition that auditoriums and arena can be used as lecture halls. This will encourage social distancing. Harris (2020) also states that hotels could be converted into dormitories.
