The body is quite interesting. At one time, it gives someone immense ability and capability to do virtually everything. At another time, it lies there, lifeless and motionless. These are two very different periods, life and death. Even if most people might not talk about it, the thought of death is usually quite a scary one for most. Its inevitability, however, is constant. Death is still a mystery in itself, one that doesn’t look like getting solved any time soon. I accept the dying process as a part of life.  I was raised up with an understanding that there was an appointed time for everyone to die.  Every culture and religion around the world has got its own interpretation of death, from a punishment from God, to a rite of passage.
The fear of death in most cultures is even evident from the numerous euphemisms associated with it. Most societies and even the contemporary one, view death as the ultimate fate of life’s battles or struggles. It will always be termed as one ‘lost the battle,’ or passed on ‘after a long struggle with illness,’ to indicate death. To some extent, it even depicts how life is all but crowned with death.
Thinking about mortality and death, can be a frightening thought, if I have no hope.  I accept this as a reality of all finite beings, including myself.  As a Christian, I have hope; therefore, I am preparing my being to see the Lord, when it is time for me to leave this world.  I intend on accepting my own mortality gracefully.  I understand that we are on this earth just for a season, and it is up to us to live our lives to the fullest as we prepare to meet the Savior when the time comes.   Death will come to us all; however, I will receive it as a long-lost friend whom I have to encounter on several occasions, but have never shaken its hand.  "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die" (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2).
According to Broderick (2015, p. 578), "the expectable rhythm of life, most people begins to take the prospect of their own mortality more seriously during middle adulthood."  It is however, the manner in which human beings cope up with death, that becomes more important. It is disturbing as it is depressing.
