Education policy and accredited standards (EPAS) is an educational program with essential elements and purposes that are of great benefit to the students. EPAS just like any program of social work has some goals and values. The main purpose of EPAS program is to address the purpose of profession grounded in the core values. The values that EPAS advocate to the students are services, social justice, dignity, and worth of a person that aims at core social work competencies. The key elements of EPAS include global poverty: human needs, economic justice, and social change. The program improves the living standards of the people by giving education especially to those with economic difficulties and consequent positive social changes in the community (Cswe.org, 2016).
EPAS program explains the four features as program mission goals, explicit curriculum, implicit curriculum, and assessment that are conceptually linked to each other. The policy describes each feature and requirements used in develop and maintaining an accredited social work program and aims at infusing intergenerational and gerontological content to the students. The students should know about the EPAS program that aims at recruiting undergraduate students to a gerontological field of social work for placement and careers. The BSW program is helpful to the students as it assist them to engage in the advocacy of legislation with adults who are older. Through the EPAS program, the students can participate in visiting homes of the elderly with social workers (Cswe.org, 2016).
