In the current world, there is a significant change in the higher education sector. Teachers of psychology have deliberately embraced teaching opportunities that are essential in the growth of academic diversity. Consequently, they have also realized several challenges with respect to maintenance of academic rigor as well as improving education in diverse environments. According to Lijima (1997), diversity has suited a multifaceted general notion that can be defined as "encompassing disputes in color, age, gender, ethnicity, mental and physical ability, nationality, religion, race, language, emotional ability, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, or an individual`s unique style. Diversification in teaching exists since it is impossible for a teacher to exhibit fluency in all teaching fields, culture and cohort that are portrayed in many learning centers. Consequently, with the current increase in socioeconomic diversity, there has emanated stimulation of many universities and colleges where evening and weekend classes have been opted to cope up with such diversity.
With reference to a book , "history of psychology" by McGovern and Brewer (2003), Psychology is to some level distinct from other educational disciplines in the sense that teaching and learning of subjects subject can by improved by use of psychology own knowledge. This argues that it doesn`t take one to be a professor in psychology in order to teach in this discipline, but whoever shares little knowledge in psychology can be regarded to as a psychologist. Fortunate enough, teachers have access to advanced ways of teaching, where technology has been opted to, hence making learning more efficient and reliable, particularly when diversity is considered. Therefore, applying diversity in teaching psychology is significant in the following ways: First, all students embrace the advantage of realizing that psychology has a room for them where their psychological traditions are availed and represented accordingly in the curriculum; in addition, all students acquire recommendable training hence becoming culturally susceptible providers of mental health, researchers as well as educators.
