Successes and failures of a business process form part of the integral constituents of a business organization. In the pursuit of business goals and objectives, organizations establish business metrics, otherwise called Key Performance Indicators (KIP), to determine the success or failures of the various business processes (Van Looy & Shafagatova, 2016). Communications, both internal and external, are key business processes that greatly impact the success or failures of an organization. Consequently, metrics to measure the effectiveness of the communication process are important in a business environment.  
Although internal communication is qualitative in its inherent nature, there are numerous justifications for quantifying internal communication in a business setting (Austin, 2020).
