The novel describes the welfare of the employees who were working in the industries during the time. The use of irony is evident in Dickens’s novels Coketown, Oliver Twist, and The Definition of a house.
In the novel ‘’Oliver Twist,’’ Children who were born out of wedlock were regarded as outcast in the society. Also, there mothers were confined in work-houses where they were mistreated (Richardson, 2012). However, it is ironical that the poor laws that were enacted by the government to mistreat single mothers in workhouses later transformed the place into luxurious apartments.
