DECISION-MAKING CASE STUDY Name: Grade Course: Tutor’s Name: (11, December, 2011) Decision-Making Case Study The effect of financial status in the hospital is very crucial and require critical thinking in coming up with a decision to restructure the whole management of finance to ensure that services are rendered to the client as usual. This should be done in a matter that will ensure a strong bond in the hospital between the top management and the junior is not tempered. This will ensure that the employees’ morale is maintained and productivity is not affected. Otherwise, if a wrong decision is taken the organization will fall and will affect the employees as well as the people who were getting services from the hospital. This may affect the economy of the country leading to poor living standard eventually (Bhushan, & Rai, 2004). Being such serious, as a manager one is required to take a quick initiative to the right direction. Government having cut finance for the hospital leaves a lot to be desired especially in the daily running of the hospital. Therefore, decision making became paramount to ensure that the hospital management is not changed. Therefore, the manager should initiate decision making procedure to prevent such problem recurring again. Defining the problem The employees are naïve on what is happening and therefore need to know the problem that the organization is experiencing. The employees are briefed on the issue and the manager ensures that he initiate collection of information on what should be done. There after he frames the problem and the way it can affect the company in near future inviting the employees to contribute on alleviating the problem (Müller, 2010). The manager will ensure at this part that the problem is well defined. He also blends it with problem solving techniques and decision-making process. This will ensure collection of correct and more comprehensive data that will be able to counter the 15% cut of the finance and bring satisfaction to all the employees for being involved in decision-making. Specifying the organization goals and selecting the solution After collecting the information from the employees, it gets to a point where the management is supposed to counter check the suggestions that have been raised against the organization goal. The suggestion picked should not divert the interest of the organization, but otherwise should help in arriving to it with as few resources as possible. The decision at this point became very critical, as a good choice is required to ensure that the problem is solved. Any bad selection of choice will cost an organization dearly. The county hospital used to offer free lunch, tea and snack for its employee for motivation purpose. After evaluation was done by the management it was seen that most of the employees so it as a waste of time to break twice for tea at 11. Am and at 4 PM. It was also very expensive and the amount of money that both tea breaks were consuming was almost the percentage cut by the government.
