I embarked on this course hoping to succeed, as everyone wishes to become a proficient writer. While I have a massive passion for writing, this journey has been full of positives and negatives. However, learning and understanding different writing skills is essential for scholars anticipating becoming proficient writers. For instance, my previous assignments and essays lacked good structure and clarity in thesis statements, but my latest works have shown classy topic development and structure techniques. ELI105 has been essential in my writing journey since it has helped me to figure out and learn about my abilities and flaws. Participating in this course has been transformative, constantly challenging me to get out of my comfort zone and inspiring me to polish my writing skills. 2 Thesis Statement: ELI105 has significantly enhanced my writing skills, including refining my writing process, strengthening my research skills, and understanding revision approaches. 3 Body * Refining Writing Process This semester’s course learning has played a key role in helping me refine my writing process. Previously, I struggled with maintaining clarity and structure when writing essays. I realized my problem had escalated when my educator constantly informed me that my work contained numerous problems in terms of clarity and logic. The lecturer informed me that my work causes confusion and misunderstanding, significantly reducing effectiveness. Fortunately, learning has improved my writing process, enhancing my writing effectiveness. Example I have learned how to simplify my language by substituting complex words and technical terms with simpler synonyms and simplifying complex concepts into more digestible parts. Normally, the disadvantage of exceeding necessary technical terms when writing in jargon might lead to alienation and misunderstanding even when readers are experts. I apprehend that most readers often complain about jargon since the words that writers use can be difficult and meaningless to the audience. Currently, I substitute technical terms to ensure the information I communicate to the readers is accurately understood. Through the help of course material and assignments, my clarity in writing has improved drastically, reducing ambiguity. By structuring my essay accordingly, I stay focused as I write the essay. At the same time, readers, including my peers and teachers, can easily draw a connection between the body and thesis. ...
