Compare contrast essay

Essay Instructions:
This examination focuses on your ability to write a comparison/contrast essay. You will have 90 minutes to complete in one setting. Prior to taking your essay exam, however, you are strongly advised to listen to the two podcasts on Comparison/Contrast writing. You will have a choice of examination questions, each of which is connected to one of the readings in Rosa. To earn a passing grade, your essay must do the following: a) answer the question that is posed. b) contain all parts of an academic essay, including a clearly identifiable thesis statement. The type of background used prior to the thesis should also be identifiable. c) be in the form of a comparison/contrast essay. d) have well-developed body paragraphs of roughly 8-10 sentences each. You may find that you need to go beyond the standard three-point, five-paragraph essay in responding. However, please be advised that a well-written, 5-paragraph essay can still earn an A and that going beyond five paragraphs does not guarantee a high grade. Answer one of the following questions in the form of a comparison/contrast essay. Choice #1: Write an essay that compares how your perspective of either a place (e.g. visiting your high school ten years later) or experience (e.g. appreciating the experience you gained working for a former boss whom you disliked at the time) has changed. For example, you could discuss but are not limited to one of the following: a) reflecting on a class that you disliked but now appreciate b) describing a place you visited some years late that is the same but now seems different to you. (For example, some people return to their elementary school as adults and are surprised to see how small it looks.) Choice #2: The Kline essay "Taking my Son to College" is a comparison of the author's experience entering college to what she thinks her son will be experiencing as an incoming freshman. For your essay, you will need to compare your decision to attend Los Angeles Valley College to one alternative you were considering. Possible comparisons will likely include one of the following: a) Attending LAVC versus another college or school that you were considering b) Attending LAVC versus not attending college The comparisons throughout your essay should lead the reader to understand your decision to attend

The leader wanted things to be done exactly as instructed. In addition, he was friendly, personable, and interactive with employees who did things correctly. I was among the workers who followed the instructions to the point to avoid having conflicts with him. However, before I mastered how this person wanted duties to be performed, I had encountered several bad moments with the manager. When I started working for that organization, things were extremely challenging for me since I was not used to performing my duties entirely. The bad part was that I was given a brief orientation in my first week of work, which was not enough period for me to understand all my responsibilities. I remember this one time when the manager caught me red-handed having not recorded things in the right way. The leader called me into his office, which usually happens when employees have not done what they are entitled to do. I was very scared since I suspected that I would be fired. However, upon arriving in his office, the manager was angry as he explained to me my mistakes. He told me to explain what happened and ...
