Food is a necessity of life and is a basic need. It helps the human body by providing energy, nutrients for growth and repair, and a robust immune system. This then raises the debate on whether every child should learn to cook. If every child learns how to cook, then literally everybody will have known how to cook since life starts at that tender age. Cooking entails the use of recipes, quantifying ingredients, particular acquired or natural skills, confidence, and building relationships and cultures, among other life practices.
One reason why children should learn cooking is the vitality of cooking as a skill. Skills are either learned from others or naturally built. Either way, cooking at an early age prepares children for the future, as they will be able to make delicious and nutritious meals for themselves and their families. With the expertise in cooking and maintaining a proper diet, our bodies repulse several lifestyle diseases that could result from poor feeding (Goettke & Reynolds, 2019). The thought of buying ready-made food at restaurants while an individual can afford to cook is expensive. Children should learn cooking to lower costs incurred.
The use of recipes and quantifying ingredients in cookery makes food preparation a learning practice. That statement is supported by the fact that quantifying components is a part of mathematics in application.
