In order to seek support and make roles and responsibilities for a project clear to all stakeholders it is important to have a familiarization meeting as Schwalbe (2006) writes. This is can be termed as a kick-off meeting, and in this gathering the champion (leader) of the project takes the time to introduce the project managers and project sponsors to the rest of the team and then sets the "working tone" for the project.
In order to set the agenda of the project straight the leader may need to employ some quality planning tools so as to determine the readiness of the team. The team can be involved in a brainstorming session, or the leader can decide to use other means such as applying the use of affinity diagrams, force field analysis, nominal group analysis matrix diagrams etc. (Heldman & Mangano, 2009).
