Blogging began in 1994 when Justin Hall, a college undergrad, generated the website called Links.net. This student created the website to publish his papers online. It started as a simple collection of links that he found as thought-provoking while surfing the internet. It also includes a diverse array of photos. Due to this, he became known as the “founding father of personal bloggers (Barron, 2020).”
His work became an inspiration to many, thereby driving them to share their personal lives in the form of online blogs. These attempts were known as “online diaries” or “personal pages.” In 1997, the term “weblog” emerged. It was invented by Jorn Barger to characterize a report of his internet activities. Barger’s style closely resembles the blogs of today, where the most recent blogs appear at the topmost, and the rest are pushed further down the page. A year later, Jonathan Dube, a reporter, published an article about Hurricane Bonnie for the Charlotte Observer. He established the blog on a news site accessible to many people (Barron, 2020).
After these milestones, other notable events happened: the emergence of the first-ever blogging platforms, the most prominent of which is the Open Diary. At present, many venues were created and managed by social media influencers (Barron, 2020).
Blogging is important today because it can be used in education, business, search engine optimization (SEO), and as a means to work by freelancers. In education, teachers and students may use this platform to promote open communication. On the other hand, freelancers often work in SEOs to help emerging small and large businesses to operate (Sharma, 2017).

For decades, there has been a long-standing debate concerning the differences between traditional writing and blog writing. In fact, this debate may last for many centuries, and people may not come to a conclusion about it (Red Scorpion Press, 2018).
For many writers, the main difference is that blogs are easier to read that anyone can become a blogger than formal writing, which is technical and harder to read.
