The audience in the story is illuminated as being unimportant and is being oriented to the work environment that is quite dark and seems psychotic. From the first go, the audience is blatantly given rules of the work environment. The narrator paints a picture of a merger between reality and illusion. All of the workers that are described in the narration are unstable, but that does not seem to affect the work environment or their working abilities.
From the start, the audience in the story is illustrated as a new employee that is being oriented on the various conditions and work environment. Throughout the narration, there is an indication that the audience is not fit enough to have what he says or asks included in the narration text. All the texts refer to the narrator's voice. Where the audience asks question, they are paraphrased by the narrator to let the readers know what the audience said to the narrator. Other than that, at one point the narrator tells the audience to feel free to ask any question as they go along the orientation (Orozco, n.d.).
