Burke, J. D., & Loeber, R. (2016). Mechanisms of behavioral and affective treatment outcomes in a cognitive-behavioral intervention for boys. Journal of abnormal child psychology, 44(1), 179-189. Link: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10802-015-9975-0
This website presents the best treatment for boys with behavioral problems. The treatment mechanisms were tested, effective measures were dispensed, and an argument made on the finding that SNAP is a factor of improved problem-solving, social, emotional, and parental skills and that they help in improving a child’s aggression. The website also mentions that there is no major difference between treatment conditions that children are subjected to. The authors suggest that independent methods may lead to both sentimental and behavioral outcomes of a meditated treatment, especially concerning the mechanisms associated with various outcomes of treatment. This source is important as it presents an overview of how effective treatment is a factor in improving a child’s behavioral patterns.
Friedman, L. M., Rapport, M. D., Raiker, J. S., Orban, S. A., & Eckrich, S. J. (2017). Reading comprehension in boys with ADHD: The mediating roles of working memory and orthographic conversion. Journal of abnormal child psychology, 45(2), 273-287. Link: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10802-016-0171-7
This website examines two cognitive processes that are present in children’s ability to read comprehension in class. One is their working memory, and the other is orthographic conversion. A sample of boys was selected and was given assessment tasks to measure their memory. The authors found out that boys with ADHD displayed significant deficits in the test variables. Similarly, the findings illustrated that the synaptic processes formed separately in connection to ADHD-related reading conception. The authors concluded that adaptive cognitive interventions tailored to improve the outcomes of reading comprehension in children with ADHD might assist them by incorporating elements that exercise orthographic conversion processes interactively and autonomously. This website is important as it provides effective solutions to helping children who have problems reading.
Gray, C. M., Carter, R., & Silverman, W. K. (2011). Anxiety symptoms in African American children: Relations with ethnic pride, anxiety sensitivity, and parenting. Journal of Child and Family Studies, 20(2), 205-213. Link: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10826-010-9422-3
The authors came up with an experiment for inspecting the connection in ethnicity background of children, their parental background, anxiety sensitivity, and anxiety symptoms by looking at a sample of African American students. The authors found out that great ethnic pride was a factor of high parental acceptance. Low levels of social anxiety were a factor of perceived high parental acceptance, which could result in high levels of harm avoidance. On the other hand, high parental control was a factor of high anxiety sensitivity and that parental control was a factor of avoidance, social anxiety, and physical symptoms, and a direct link to anxiety sensitivity. This study is important as it provides the specific factors that influence the elements of anxiety in African American kids.
