The Trip to the Mountains
Throughout my life so far, I have experienced a lot in my day to day life as I mingle and interact with people. My grandfather used to tell me that people who laugh at their shortcomings will always get everyone else to laugh along with them. Last year I learned that he was right. Since I was a college student, my friends thought I had always had my life ahead of me with beautiful and exciting experiences despite being young, but that was not the case.
Travelling was not a hobby for me before the hiking trip to the mountains. I had pals to hang out with. Although they had numerous leisure options, I felt comfortable spending time in my hometown and sometimes even indoors. The situation changed dramatically when my best friend Carolina, who always had a lot of crazy ideas and plans, came to my room and asked me to accompany her on a trip to the Rocky Mountains. I was hesitant at first, as it was quite a crazy idea that came out of the blues. She finally managed to convince me, and we departed after three days.
The trip to the mountains was the first ‘serious’ outdoor activity I had ever engaged in. It was therefore bound to be quite an eye-opener for me, as not only was I green in matters of geography, but also quite scared of heights. The atmospheric conditions for me were somehow harsh because it was foggy and quite chilly. The higher we went on top of the mountains, the visibility continued to get shoddier.
