Being a Superior Court Judge, I have a duty to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and rule of law. The Due Process Clause of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. The Constitution is possibly the most basic protection of our legal system and yet is extremely powerful. This is a means to prevent individuals’ lives, liberty, or property from being taken away without due process of law, a guarantee against arbitrary government action, and a requirement that every person, regardless of whether a defendant in a crime proceeding, be treated fairly to be brought up under the law.
