The holocaust, as most described it as the Shoah, happened between the year 1941 and 1945. During the World War II genocide (killing a large mass of people to get rid of the nation of the ethnic group) of the European Jews. Nazi Germany took almost two-thirds of the Jewish population. This paper aims to understand the holocaust from different arts and analyze what the artists had in mind and the artist's message to the readers about the whole idea of the holocaust. The artists' two-art works focused on the paper are death pits and mothers with babies.
Leslie Cole, the author of the poem one of the death pits, recorded some of the events that had taken place during the liberation of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp during the second world war in 1945. He vividly described the holocaust through the sample pictures/drawings and paintings he had taken during the war in his art. One of the death pits poetry describes and gives clear information and evidence of what took place in the camp. Leslie Cole being a war artist, made some historical drawings to communicate what took place in the camp. German Nazi genocide campaigns first saw the breakdown of food and water supplies, which led to massive death capacities (Capet, 2013). The Jews were buried in large groups as the artist's pictures of the pits show the genocide aimed to bury as many Jews as possible.
Given the pictures of Leslie, the holocaust seemed to become terrifying to most viewers. The pictures depict how the holocaust was intense through his painting. Human suffering until death describes how the holocaust was intense and the Germans' aim to take down the mass of the Jews within the shortest period.
