On reading the poem "in Just" by E.E. Cummings, one thinks up a time of childish wonder and innocence. However, an old, queer, goat-footed man wanders through the poem. This evokes the curiosity of the reader into finding out whether the old man enhances the innocent mood, or undermines it. The easiest way to comprehend the essence of the poem is by a careful look into its unusual spelling, creative word coinage and spacing of words. The poet creates spaces between several words, such as in "whistles__ far and wee." This seems to suggest the distance in which the whistle covers. Some of the phrases are run together by the author.
