An effective proposal
An effective proposal must define a given situation as a problem before it can propose a solution. By establishing how a set of circumstances could or has negatively impacted a particular population, the proposal writer creates a sense of urgency that is meant to convince his/her intended audience to adopt a course of action. How have the experts in your discourse community defined certain situations as problems that must be solved? In other words, what rhetorical strategies have the experts in your field employed to bring problems into focus for their intended audience? What solutions have those same experts proposed to solve these problems? What problem within your discourse community are you most passionate about solving and why? How would you define the problem so that fellow practitioners within your field would be motivated to solve it?

Having an effective proposal is one of the most important things, not only to conduct and effective research, but also to be able to effect the ultimate change that the research is aiming for. This is because every research also starts from a single research question, whereby the answer to, depends on the approval of other stakeholders that would grant the necessary financial, technical, and theoretical elements needed to pursue the study. Accordingly, an observation of the usual strategies employed by experts in the field of psychology is to highlight the benefits of the research both in theory and practice to the panel that reviews their application.
