Air Traffic Control (ATC) is a ground-based service that primarily prevents collisions, organizes and expedites air traffic. Separation rules are used to regulate the minimum required distance between aircrafts reducing unnecessary risks for pilots and passengers. The job of an air traffic controller involves high levels of communication, mathematical analysis, command of the skies and a capacity to make fact-based split-second decisions that could often be the difference between life and death.
