This week, students will keep a self-awareness journal for a minimum of 5 days. This journal will be used to reflect on behaviors/response/thoughts associated with emotions that are experienced during this five-day period.
Students will be required to write 2-3 paragraphs per day (In a single document) for five days describing the following:
Mood
Reaction to good and bad experiences
Thoughts
Anything else you would like to share
For 2-3 days, document the experience without using any methods for gauging or moderating reactions. However, during the last 2-3 days, monitor emotions through techniques of self-awareness and self-management described through your textbook (Bradberry & Greeves ch. 5-6). Use methods such as:
Relaxation
Mindfulness
Slow Down
Breathing Techniques
In your journal, document how self-awareness caused different or possibly more positive outcomes. Keep in mind, use of terms, quotes, and concepts from your textbook will be necessary to fully complete this assignment and will require appropriate citations and references.
Your journal will need to conform to APA 7th Edition formatting standards. With that said, since this is a self-assessment reflection, feel free to use personal pronouns when completing this assignment. Be sure to contact me with any questions.

Day 1
Mood: I had a more or less relaxed and stressed day at work. The day began on a positive note, and thus, the compromise was made in reasonably good spirits, but as the day advanced, the tension arising from the pressures of work began to accumulate.
Reaction to Good and Bad Experiences: The day started on a positive note, as the morning was spent in the meeting, which kept me busy and made me feel that I would have done something. Though I had attacked a complex assignment, I got irritated as I wrote this piece in the afternoon. So, rather than address it, I ran away from it by engaging myself with other minor tasks instead. Honestly, this only made me more irritated and stressed as the day passed and all the deadlines quickly approached.
Thoughts: I only recently understood that I fear handling the states of emotions. This is true because instead of addressing the frustrations, I kept letting them build up, negatively affecting my concentration and feelings. Thinking about such a reaction, I realize it would have been better to deal with such emotions as soon as possible to prevent them from distorting the rest of the day.
Day 2
Mood: Most of my day was colored with anxiety, and the main reason for that was the presentation that I had to do. After this, the stress was not so severely felt again, but the stress was still persistent.
