Sec# Date        Volcanoes are formed when an opening appears through the earth’s crust, whereby ash, magma and molten rock then erupt (Horrigan & Mustart, 2009). Volcanoes are mostly conical in shape, but they do take different shapes depending on the type of eruption, changes after eruption and material erupted. Volcanoes are mostly found where there are plate boundaries and at times the interior of plates. There are different forms of volcanoes, including the explosive landforms, effusive landforms and mixed landforms.   There are also active volcanoes that have been dormant for time and others are extinct as they cannot erupt again. Hawaii has some active volcanoes and in Iceland they have at times interfered with air transportation.             Volcanoes present different hazards to people and South America has many lowland populations affected by volcanic eruptions, the lava flow, ash and explosion of rocks are just some of the dangers and in the case of volcanoes in the Andes mountain range there is danger of glacial ice.
