Request for Funding - Wildlife Conservation Initiative
Benefactor: Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco
Instructions: Select one of the funders from your discussion post and develop an LOI for your organization. When funders ask for a letter of inquiry (LOI), they want a few pages that will make them excited about giving you a grant. Some foundations will then invite you to send a full proposal. But for many foundations, an LOI is enough to make a decision.
Letters of inquiry should be signed and must include the following:
Full legal name of the person making the request on behalf of the organization
Brief description of the organization, including its mission statement, history, and overview of services provided
Description of the project to be funded, including general project timeline (if applicable)
Total cost of project and amount of money requested from funder (Your LOI does not need a project cost, but estimating the costs of your organization’s need is a useful practice. You should include an estimate of the amount of money you will be asking for.
Contact information, including name, occupation or title, address, telephone number, and email address
Letters of inquiry should be no more than three pages in length.
