Project Management Plan for Community Justice Initiatives

Essay Instructions:

As an old saying goes, “Plan the work and work the plan.” Every successfully funded initiative starts with a well-thought-out plan of action that shares with the funding agency the vision for accomplishing the work. In this assignment, you develop the Strategies/Project Management Plan component of your grant proposal for the Wk 5 – Summative Assessment. This component is a plan aligned with project goals and objectives that outlines the activities that will need to be completed, as well as identifies the people and time needed for success. Planning these resources will help you as you build your budget.

Develop the Strategies/Project Management Plan component of your grant proposal. Complete the following:

Write a 525- to 700-word summary of the plan for accomplishing your local criminal justice initiative.

Create a timeline of key activities for the initiative in either a table or a spreadsheet. Include the following for each activity or task in the timeline:

Determine the duration of the individual activity and any sub-activities.

Allocate a key staff individual or key staff role to the activity and identify any relevant partnerships or collaboration associated.

Denote materials or resources needed for the activity or task.

Note: Refer to Worksheet 5.1, “Worksheet Sample Timeline (Abbreviated),” in Step 5 of Winning Grants Step by Step as you build your timeline.

Project Management Plan Grant Component
Description
The region of California will invest a total of $2.8 million for five years to create a new community-based justice center under the community justice initiatives. The new initiative will be dedicated to issues about root causes of social harms through upstream interventions which relate to restorative justice principles. The initiative has been born through a series of discussions between community justice initiatives and members of the nationally recognized California crime prevention council and supported by the regional council through the 2022 budget.
This center will reflect a bold vision for the integration of justice, health, and social services to address the issue of inequalities, unmet human needs (homelessness), and systematic barriers through upstream approaches. The new justice center proposed by the California region and community justice initiatives is an important community-based upstream initiative that will make use of social development activities informed by the determinants of social health, with a restorative justice lens to improve the health and criminal justice of marginalized communities.
The region will work in liaison with the community justice initiatives within the coming months to come up with a funding agreement for the center with inclusivity of anticipated outcomes to help residents. California State has, over the years, dedicated a significant portion of its budget to equity and equity-based initiatives such as affordable housing, social care, and climate change action, among many more. The community criminal initiative will also include the unveiling of the recommendations of the Anti-Racism Advisory, which includes consulting with the indigenous communities. The conversation with the local indigenous communities will feature the need for a community hub and working with partners to design support services for mental health. The partnership will be useful to ensure the long-term needs of the community are met efficiently.
