Public perception of policing, therefore, is one of the most crucial factors that account for the effectiveness of policing. This essay will explore, in turn, the various factors that shape this perception, including both positives and negatives. Knowledge of use-of-force regulations and search and seizure protocols contributes to lawful and ethical policing. 2. Organizational rules: Police departments have established organizational rules detailing what officers should or should not do.
