One of the ways law enforcement officers demonstrate legal and ethical behavior in the profession is by maintaining the extremely high standards of integrity demanded by their position, even when off-duty. Law enforcement officers have to adhere to all laws and hold the same social respect they have even after their jobs end. Police officers are constantly under public scrutiny and depend on society's trust to sustain their power positions (Fitch, 2011). Officers must respect the badge and what it stands for by realizing that any form of law-breaking diminishes public confidence in the whole police force, especially the department they serve in.
