One of the concepts that I found most surprising from the week’s readings is the issue of homophobia and homophobic crimes. I was surprised by the several cases of homophobic crimes that have been in headlines in the UK. Some of these cases entail extreme assault and physical harm to people believed to be homosexuals. Homophobia is the fear of homosexual men and women, which triggers extreme judgement and hatred, leading to hostility against these people.
