WikiLeaks
The article on the New York Times describes a journalist who is also an international trafficker. The name of the journalist is Assage who is believed to be the founder of the WikiLeaks website. Assage name came to the limelight when he exposed a video of the American military killing 18 people and amongst two Reuters journalists. Assage is, therefore, a person who collects classified information and publishes it WikiLeaks.
The article has described events that Assage has exposed that brought out a controversial discussion. According to the author, WikiLeaks has played a role in the exposure of many events. Khatchadourian says, "WikiLeaks is not quite an organization; it is better described as a media insurgency. It has no paid staff, no copiers, no desks, and no office." (Khatchadourian, 2017, para 2) This expression shows that WikiLeaks is a platform that is difficult to identify its origin. The website is encrypted which makes it difficult to identify who uploads the secretive catalog on the website. The author also claims that Assage does not have a permanent place of residence where he can be traced. The author quotes from Assage, "I'm living in airports these days."( Khatchadourian, 2017, para 2) A person who lives in the airport can never be traced because it is difficult to predict the next move.
The aim of Assage in Iceland was to take a video that would expose cruelty in modern warfare. To do this particular he had to co-operate with politicians and activists which he had already done. He hoped to expose the real truth about Iraq and Afghanistan if he was successful in his project-B as the author calls it. He had planned to expose the video to a group of news reporters in Washington.
