My agency of choice is the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service Agency. The agency is a distinctive educational organization with a presence in the whole state, working with a network of expert educators, trained volunteers, and county offices. The agency collaborates with The Texas A&M University System, the countrywide United States Department of Agriculture Cooperative Extension System, County Commissioners Courts, the 10 Texas universities, and eight state agencies to make available vital assets to the resident communities that will deal with local issues.
The agency has existed in Texas for over one hundred years and has successfully delivered innovative science-based solutions and education on health, agriculture, and the environment. Its history dates back to 1887, when Congress passed the Hatch Experiment Solution Act, creating the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. To aid land-grant universities in sharing their findings with farmers and ranchers, Congress in 1915 instituted the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, which was then incorporated with six other agencies in 1948 to what it is today. The agency primarily focuses on instilling knowledge in Texas residents about agriculture, life skills for youths and adults, environmental protection, human wealth and leadership, and commercial and community development. It offers all these services to foster personal- improvement, problem-solving in the community, and individual action.
