In the 1950s, many things changed and music was one of the many things affected by the change. Cultural changes and societal norms were reflected in music. The aftermath of the World War II the United States would see a change that would affect the face of music for the following decades. Many people believed at this time that many whites would steal African-Americans music and commercialize it to their own benefit. As a result, there was a transition of blues from the country blues to urban blues. Therefore, geography affected the content of music at this time with the urban music more elaborate.
Delta blues for example were created by the poor blacks and did not need popularization even though. Due to its poor reputation, some people even those who religiously loved it would sometimes disown it. They were usually created against the odds of living. Tommy Johnson “Canned Heat Blues” (1929) gives an account of what happened from the first line. Tommy would then change the performance of the songs by performing acrobatics while performing such as playing the guitar between his legs.
In the White country, blues were more associated with lavish lifestyles and women. For example, Jimmy Rodgers (1897-1933) died of tuberculosis. In his song, “Blue Yodel (T is for Texas)” (1928) in the second verse he gives a clear outline of his lifestyle.
