Introduction
Communication is one of the pillars of any social setup whether in the formal settings or on the social settings. It is one of the aspects that defines how different people within and without each setting interact and form relations. It is the backbone that governments use to interact with other governments and organizations from around the world to conduct business at any imaginable scale (Lee, 2007). At a relatively smaller scale, communication is also crucial in the hospitals and other health care facilities, where the staffs and the patients pass information back and forth. In the case of this paper, communication plays a vital role in the aspects of health care delivery with respect to the nurses and their patients.
Current Level of Informatics
In most of the health care fronts, communication had come through a series of revolutionary developments that allows nurses interact more effectively among themselves and to their patients. In the hospital facility where I work, much of the developments have not caught on and the system of exchanging information between the nurses is not as advanced. There is still the use of the charts to communicate patient progress and medical interventions in play (Lee, 2006). While at the same time the most of the record have not yet been computerized. This slow adoption has been due to lack of financial resources, given that fact that is a small community hospital. As such sharing information between the nurses is rather slow and sometime redundant. This means that patients have lower satisfaction rates and the nurses have slower decision making time frames (Lin, Lin, Jiang & Lee, 2007). Economically, it means that both the patient and the hospital have to deal with costly expenditures. The patients spend more time the hospital, and the nurses have less accuracy in their decision making especially in the cases of emergencies.
Introducing Computerized Informatics System
The introduction of an interoperable computer based information system can easily turn the hospital operations around by making every other aspect more efficient. With such a system, all the records would be found in one central system and could be accessed from multiple platforms (Lee, 2007). This means that the nurses will have an easier time assessing the patient...
