1. What is the prevalence of infertility in the U.S.? (Your response should address both male and female factor infertility.)
Infertility is commonly linked with women as it is considered as a situation when a woman cannot conceive after having unprotected sex. According to the Center for Disease control statistics the prevalence of infertility is between 10% to 15% in couples in America .this can be translated to mean that one in every ten women in America of the reproductive age may be infertile .the same statistics indicate that 30 percent of men are infertile (Cobbs,2010).
2. What are the demographic characteristics (age, educational attainment, poverty status, race/ethnicity, etc.) of women with impaired fecundity?
According to the data national survey on family planning, the demographic characteristic of women with impaired fecundity includes age, their marital status whether separated, cohabiting, or not cohabiting. Others include parity, if one has sought medical help to become pregnant within a period of one year, the level of education be it high school, college or university education. The other characteristic includes poverty level; race to determine if they have ever used some medical help to become pregnant (Chrandra, Martinez, Mosher, Abma, and Jones, 2005)
3. What are the demographic characteristics of women receiving infertility treatment?
One of the demographic characteristics of women receiving infertility treatment includes advice on how to time intercourse within the monthly cycle, issues of infertility testing for the partner and ovulation. Medical help to prevent miscarriage and other treatment related to reproductive health .Certain methods like artificial insemination procedure including Vitro fertilization. Other characteristics include infertility services among older couples who have not conceived and the levels of education and income. The important aspect is the number of visit within one year to seek medical help to conceive (Hall and Moreau, 2012).
