Instructions: Peer Responses

RESEARCH (Label this section)

Teach the topic to students. Responses must add new information not previously discussed. Consider new factual information tied with critical thinking. Share interesting and current research on the topic.

Use APA citations in the post to clarify sources.

Do not simply summarize another student's post and agree/disagree.

Consider starting out posts with, “A research article I found said," "Did you know," or "Three things I found interesting were... ."

CRITICAL THINKING (Label this section)

Pose new possibilities or opinions not previously voiced.

Connect the dots. Why is this an important topic for you, your community, society, or the world? How does it relate to other concepts in the text?

Add references and word count for all posts.

#26. What's in Urine? Tell the story of making Pee: Functions of each structure

COLLAPSE

Research

The nitrogenous wastes in urine are uric acid and creatinine. It is produced by the catabolism of nucleic acids and creatine phosphate. (Saladin, 2020). The breakdown of pee travels out of the kidneys through the ureters, urinary bladder and the urethra. The kidneys secrete waste into the urine. The urine is formed in the kidneys through a filtration of blood. After urine travels from the kidneys it goes through two thin tubes called ureters and fills the bladder. This is where urine is stored until a person urinates. However, contractions of the smooth muscle seems to push urine down through the ureters and in the bladder. Ureters are retroperitoneal, muscular tube that extends from the kidney to the urinary bladder. The bladder is an organ of the urinary system and it temporaryly stores urine. In male and females the bladder is located in different locations. The wall of the bladder contains folds called rugae, and a layer of smooth muscle called the detrusor muscle. Furthermore, as the bladder fills up with urine then the rugae smooth out to accommodate the volume. The detrusor relaxes to the urine then contracts the urination. However, the bladder stores urine until the brain sends signals to the bladder that a person is ready to empty. At this time during urination, the pee is passed from the bladder through the urethra to the outiside of the body. In a female the urethra is narrow and shorter than in males. The male urethra is four or five times longer than a female.

Critical Thinking

As I was during my research on urine, i found out that there is a process on how urine flows through the body. However, if urine doesn't flow correctely in order than it could cause damage to some organs. Also a back up flow of urine could cause a UTI. I realize how important it is to go to the bathroom in a timely manner. Because when your body gives you that signal that it's time to urinate then you need to urinate.

Did you know, urine is more than 95 percent of water as an aqueous solution. Other components include urea, chloride, salt, potassium, creatinine, and other ions, and inorganic, biological, and ingredients. Urea is a non-toxic compound of carbon dioxide and harmful ammonia.
Urine generated in the kidneys is transferred into the urinary bladder through the ureters. The bladder extends to contain more urine like an elastic bag. The process of urine begins when it reaches capacity. Unwilling muscular movements provide signal to the neurological system and make a conscious choice to urinate. The inner sphincter and the outer sphincter both regulate the passage of urine by the muscle (Yao & Chen, 2018). The inner sphincter is unintentional. It circles the bladder opening to the urethra and relieves the pee to pass. The outside sphincter is free. It is outside the bladder of the urethra and must be loosened to cause urination.
When the bladder is urinary, the micturition reflex is triggered by extending recep...
