Family Health Assessment
In recent years there has been an increasing trend in understanding family health. The main reason is that this process will help record the diseases and conditions within the family members since they share the same genes. Even though various determinants can influence family health, one of the outstanding ones is the social determinants of health (SDOH). To understand how the SDOH impacts family health, I interviewed a family consisting of a married couple with two children. The SDOH factors that affect this family’s health includes; the food they consume, the physical activities routine, and their sleep pattern.
The food that the family takes impacts the individual's health. In most instances, the research shows that we are usually a reflection of what we eat. For instance, when the wife suffers from a series of constipation, the family tries to control it by regulating the diet that they are taking. Even though this family is trying to manage this instance, it has yet to find a solution. Furthermore, children eating picky eating will likely impact their lives in the long run. Furthermore, the person is likely to become obese and have high blood pressure, hypertension, high cholesterol, and other metabolic disorders.
Having the right screenings for every family member is critical since it helps to know the right treatment for every member. For instance, the wife should have an imaging test such as Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify the condition that could lead to constipation (Klinge et al., 2022).
