The Christian view on human nature is that the physical human body is a vessel for the human soul; the physical body is temporary and will eventually die. White (2020) notes that Christianity views the nature of the human being as to serve God while on earth and be judged at death. The judgment will determine whether one is to be accepted in heaven or banished to hell. According to Christianity, it is God who creates all life and the soul, which is immortal. Additionally, human beings are unique from other living things such as animals and trees because of the soul. The soul gives human beings their values and virtues. Generally, people rank their importance according to need and their convictions. According to Christianity, the theory based on human properties and dualism explains human nature, in that human beings have a soul, making them valuable.
The theory based on human properties closely relates to Christianity. The thesis establishes that humans are unique since they can generate new ideas and actions (White, 2020). Contrary, animals, and plants react to stimuli. However, on Wireless Philosophy (2014), this is challenged, as they argue that animals also have conscious thought, empathy for their newborn, and affection for their kin. Overall, the theory based on human properties views the existence of a non-physical entity beyond the body, a spiritual element referred to as the immortal soul. The theory views humans as special creatures where the brain and body are separate, and that psychological peculiarities are non-actual (Stahl & Kilner, 2017). A human being is more than a physical entity since they can collect, analyze, and reflect on all types of information.
Human values convey a positive and emotional awareness that rationalizes the need for virtues. The intrinsic understanding of one being valuable also establishes that another is valuable (White, 2020). Cognitive awareness allows human beings to live with dignity. Christianity and dualism rationalize the need for human rights and human dignity. Every human being is responsible for their actions, unlike animals. Such values include respect, appreciation, empathy, kindness, listening, consideration, and affection (Stahl & Kilner, 2017). Laws and regulations are set on these values and the need for human dignity. Without these values and understanding, the world would be in disarray.
