Delivery, quality and cost of healthcare in the United States has been a pertinent issue in the nation’s public domain. As the population keeps increasing, the healthcare system has grappled with the strain, amid a seemingly static and inflexible framework. This has prompted healthcare organizations to re-strategize in an attempt to not only stay afloat, but also improve on its current systems of healthcare delivery. Among them is United Healthcare. Founded in 1977, the organization is one of the largest in the healthcare industry in the United States. Ever since it’s founding, the organization has continuously evolved to match up with the ever-changing healthcare environment. Challenges notwithstanding, United Healthcare has managed to continue providing the much-needed standard quality healthcare to more than a million individuals who have subscribed to its plan. The organization has shown its readiness to not only address the current issues in healthcare but also in the next decade, through the formulation of a grand plan that would effectively address the issues compounding its objectives. These issues include service delivery, the satisfaction of the patients, the effective management of resources, as well as nurse staffing. In addition the plan also addresses its growth as a network .The embracement of technology has played its own key role, in ensuring that United Healthcare Group is on course.
Patient Satisfaction
United Healthcare has been on the forefront when it comes to the integration of innovation into its systems. The organization’s leadership has over the years maintained a policy of constantly improving the systems through innovative strategies. By embracing innovation, the organization has ensured that there is a conveyor belt that produces a regular supply or new products and services which are aimed at improving service delivery. Additionally, these innovative ideas, once implemented, lower the cost of healthcare delivery, in addition to enhancing the standards of delivery to the clients. As the largest health insurer in the country, the organization is well positioned to offer affordable rates for its clients (Cochran, 2016).
In its preparations for the next decade, the organization also offers a number of payment plans, so as to suit the different financial abilities of the various customers it serves. This is because the organization is well aware that not everyone has the same financial muscle. With the provision of flexible payment tariffs, clients can therefore fit in the package that wont strain them, while at the same time provide them with the optimum healthcare they need. This is a good move, as it ensures no discrimination of patients, while also giving them satisfaction. The organization has for example partnered the Walgreens product with its OptumRx in an effort to cut costs and ensure more affordability (United Healthcare,2016).It also has the United Healthcare Children’s foundation for supporting children.
Nurse Staffing
Nursing shortage is well documented .As earlier noted; these are challenging times for the healthcare industry in the United States. Among the challenges include nursing shortages in many medical institutions. United Healthcare, as a major player in the industry, is a...
