I will identify an area in the nursing practice that would benefit from research during my student experience at Niagara College. It reflects on how I would communicate this need for research and to whom. Key Words: Research, Pain Management, Bedsores The Reflection of Researching A field of nursing practice that would gain from research throughout my student experience at Niagara College would be the benefits and significance of pain management. I will employ research for evidence based practice for the well-being of my clients. For instance, I could utilize evidence based research to bring insight on how to preclude bedsores. Bedsores affect many patients. In the UK, for instance, bedsores affect between seven and ten per cent of hospitalized patients. The prevalence rate in elderly patients is as high as seventy percent. Evidence indicates that to avert bedsores, there are special bed types that can be used. According to Iyer (2006), repositioning has a role to play in forefending bedsores in addition to good nutrition which is also associated with skin breakdown and bedsores. An increased intake of calories in the diet may be a way of preventing bedsores. Zinc and vitamin C supplements are necessary in reducing bedsores prevalence.
