Title: Telemedicine services for individuals with heart disease in Atlanta, Georgia.
Topic Relevance
Based on the Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH), heart disease is one the leading causes of death in Georgia among adults. Over 22,000 people die annually from this illness. Approximately 142,000 years of life are lost due to preventable and premature death (Georgia Department of Public Health, n.d.). In that light, providing telemedicine services for individuals in Georgia is significant since it will reduce the prevalence and death caused by heart disease. The majority of people do not understand the causes of heart disease, leaving them vulnerable to this deadly disease.
My topic is relevant to Georgians between 20 and 55 years. Georgia has been identified as one of the regions with a high prevalence of heart disease in the United States of America (USA). On that note, focusing on this topic might save the lives of many people in that area, who might not understand the causes, symptoms, and consequences of heart disease. Additionally, affected individuals will have access to quality telemedicine services to help them manage the disease and prevent adverse health consequences, such as stroke (Oster et al., 2021). For instance, studies reveal that adults with heart disease are likely to show depressive symptoms. These people are less likely to have previous diagnoses. The most significant thing about telemedicine services is that clinicians and health practitioners can reach out to young adults and encourage them to undergo appropriate care so that they can lead healthy lives.
Mission and Vision Statements
Mission: To provide quality telemedicine services for individuals in Atlanta to prevent and manage heart disease, which is one the leading causes of death among adults. In particular, heart disease is preventable and telemedicine services foster the accessibility of care. Many people might fail to get appropriate healthcare services exposing them to things that might lead to this health problem. For example, some individuals from remote areas might lack the means of transport to hospitals in urban areas. However, these people are likely to have devices, such as smartphones, which they can use to get connected to the Internet. As such, the introduction of telemedicine services can promote care accessibility to these individuals so that they can get quality care.
Vision: To be the app that offers appropriate care for individuals to prevent and manage heart disease. Specifically, telemedicine facilitates video and phone consultations with qualified healthcare professionals. Telemedical technologies replace face-to-face hospital visits since people can access quality care from doctors remotely (Battineni et al., 2021). If heart disease is left untreated, it can lead to more detrimental consequences, such as heart attacks and strokes. However, telemedicine services will be provided using an app, where individuals in Atlanta can get fundamental disease medications, treatment, and advice. Moreover, people with a high risk of heart disease will receive crucial information that will enable them to avoid adverse consequences.
