Informatics
Health information technology such as telehealth is increasingly integrated into clinical settings to optimize health outcomes. Access to data and information supporting getting analytical solutions and incorporating informatics inpatient care requires project management, IT, and data analysis skills. Through telehealth and telemedicine solutions, processes and technology are integrated into clinical settings to support health interventions. Complex telehealth implementation, protecting health information, technical issues, low users awareness, workload are some of the issues affecting successful telehealth implementation (Davis et al., 2020). The informatics project focuses on the implementation of telehealth.
Proposed Project
Telehealth relates to health services provided by health practitioners such as doctors and nurses, among others, through information and communication technologies (ICT) such as computers and telephones. Targeted patients receive some services remotely, and there is a focus on obtaining information and specialized, timely, and quality health care, regardless of where one is located. Telehealth and telemedicine reduce geographic inequalities to access health services. The project will improve access to care, allowing patients to get services from specialist doctors while reducing waiting time, eliminating costs and travel times, but the intervention should be user-friendly. Integrating information technologies in healthcare, including electronic health records, allows health practitioners to coordinate care better.
Stakeholders Impacted by the Project
The project impacts nurses, doctors, patients, nurse informaticists, the healthcare organization, and even IT technicians. Nurses, doctors, and nurse informaticists are trained in providing telehealth services. The doctors will also consult more with specialists to provide effective care service and increase their ability to verify diagnoses. The healthcare organization will rely on a system that reduces overreliance on documents with decentralized demand for services. For the health system, there is a focus on reducing inequity in access to services, supporting care delivery to patients. Therefore, there is fewer or no duplicate patient assessment combined with timely treatments, and this improves care service. However, it is necessary to consider confidentiality and patients’ informed consent when implementing telehealth solutions.
Patient Outcome(s)
It is expected that the implementation of the project will improve timely diagnoses and treatments. After the project is implemented, there will be an improvement in the quality of diagnosis and treatment where health practitioners collaborate. For instance, healthcare workers access and share relevant patient data and updated information that informs clinical decisions. Collaboration is essential to improve the efficiency and quality of care health services. Telehealth allows users to incorporate technology solutions to collect and transmit patient data, and it is easier now than before as there has been improvement in technology and increased accessibility. Telehealth solutions have also been promoted for cost-effectiveness, but care should be exercised to ensure telehealth meets users’ needs as stakeholders have multiple goals (Davis et al., 2020). Even as there are strict regulatory laws on telemedicine, there has been an increased demand for telemedicine during the current Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic in place of face-to-face encounters with patients.
Virtual appointments may become more common in the future as more people embrace them, and the pandemic has accelerated this. Healthcare monitoring is beneficial in avoiding unnecessary visits,...
