Tactical planning comprises the actions undertaken for the strategy implementation and entails the things to be done, their order, and the tools and personnel (Szulanski, Doz, & Porac, 2005). The proper integration of these aspects across the different departments in healthcare is hence critical for the successful operationalizing of the strategies. The greatest challenge of the process is the creation of a balance between sticking to the objectives and grasping the fleeting opportunities that arise (Sull, Homkes, & Sull, 2015). The dynamic and complex nature of the health environment presents both obstacles and chances. The appropriate agility of an organization during strategy execution regarding funds, attention and people are hence critical. The problem demands managers evaluate the opportunities against the organizational strategies to determine their importance. Also, directing and collaboration of the individual efforts presents a challenge to tactical planning. According to Brenner (2008), people are the ultimate drivers and catalysts of successful change programs. The coordination of the different sections’ plans is hence crucial to make sure that they focus towards the goals of the facility.
