Stroke PICOT Statement and the Importance of Rehabilitation to Stroke Patients
Review the Topic Materials and the work completed in NRS-433V to formulate a PICOT statement for your capstone project.
A PICOT starts with a designated patient population in a particular clinical area and identifies clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care. The intervention should be an independent, specified nursing change intervention. The intervention cannot require a provider prescription. Include a comparison to a patient population not currently receiving the intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process.
Formulate a PICOT statement using the PICOT format provided in the assigned readings. The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project.
In a paper of 500-750 words, clearly identify the clinical problem and how it can result in a positive patient outcome.
Make sure to address the following on the PICOT statement:
Evidence-Based Solution
Nursing Intervention
Patient Care
Health Care Agency
Nursing Practice

Can the improvement of the healthcare accorded to stroke patients help in the reduction of the number of deaths associated with stroke within a period of six months?
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability among patients in the United States and therefore, this is a national issue of concern. In most cases when the patients have had a stroke, they will be left with functional impairment or a severe disability that can affect their lives in different ways. In the world, there are 4.8 million stroke survivors, and about 1.1 million suffer lasting functional disabilities (Hande & Ozgur, 2018). There are different recovery and rehabilitation procedures, that have been put in place to make sure that the patients have recovered after they have had a stroke. As seen the severity of a stroke and its complications will play a role in determining the amount of time that the person will take to recover from the stroke. Stroke rehabilitation can help one to recover from its impacts and still be able to carry out some of the daily life activities.
In addition, patients who spend their time in the various rehabilitation programs have a higher probability of recovering fast than those who do not spend their time in rehabilitation centers. This is an indication that a lot of care is provided within the rehabilitation centers as compared to the home environment whereby the patient might not have any specialist to guide them through the therapy process. During this time, the patients are taken through various rehabilitation programs. One of the commonest means of rehabilitation is through exercises. Patients can go through the exercises as a way of preventing the recurrence of stroke, manage comorbidities and avoid other related complication. Evidence shows that the patients can do better with an organized recovery approach that is done by the guidance of a trainer (Jonas, Joaquin, Markus, Emil, & Jorgen, 2018). A substantial number of patients assume that they can do the exercise without the help of a trainer, but this plays a role in delaying the period that they could have taken to re...
