SLP Assignment Overview

This assignment will build off your SWOT analysis. As the Organizational Development Manager (ODM) for the organization that you completed your SWOT Analysis for, you act as a liaison and advisor to the organization’s leadership, and begin initiatives within the organization. You have been given the responsibility to create a team (including yourself and five other members) to address a set of strategic issues that this organization is facing, found within your SWOT Analysis. Choose your team members based on the need of your SWOT Analysis. For instance, if you reported a weakness as “long wait-time in the ER,” it might be ideal to include an ER Nurse Manager on your team. Propose and evaluate a set of strategies for the organization. You should include at least 1 goal, 2-3 measurable objectives to support the attainment of those goals, and 2-3 action items to complete the objectives. The goal(s) are broader, the objectives have a number tied to them to assess, and action steps have deliverables. You will be presenting a PowerPoint (PPT) to the Board of Directors at your organization.

SLP Assignment Expectations

You are to write a 3 page essay to include the following:

Introduction that explains the purpose of the meeting and/or SWOT analysis.

Titles of team members (i.e., ER Nurse Manager, In-Take Operations Manager, etc.) and a short explanation for each member's importance on the team.

One overarching goal. This goal should address most of the issues on your SWOT analysis, thus it can be broad.

Two or three measurable objectives to support the attainment of the goal.

Two or three items explaining your team's plan of action.

Conclusion that summarizes the information included in the essay, and an explanation that solidifies how your team will execute the goal presented and resolve the strategic issues.

Given current organizational situations, a number of roles are necessary to fill in gaps identified in SWOT. The proposed roles include, but may not be limited to,
1 Chief Information Officer (CIO). The growing importance of data analytics in healthcare makes information management critical to organizational success, sustainability and effectiveness (Wang, Kung & Byrd, 2018). By instating a CIO, Montefiore Medical Center will be able to plan and manage data flows optimally and effectively in order to serve a diversity of stakeholders including, mot notably, patients, business partners, suppliers, regulatory agencies and non-for-profit patient rights groups. The CIO is responsible for managing day-today and

strategic information management activities including, for instance, curating patient information and curating partner electronic health records (EHRs).
1 Business Development Manager. The business of Montefiore Medical Center is healthcare. This mandates Montefiore Medical Center provide care to as wide as possible patient base not only as a moral mission yet also as a business opportunity. Given current local focus on Bronx and Westchester County, Bronx and Westchester County needs to grow healthcare services into more areas. This requires a Business Development Manager role. In his capacity, a Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying expansion opportunities, potential business partnerships, and optimizing current corporate assets to attract more capital and investors.
2 Investor Relations Manager. The lack of funding is, as mentioned under “Threats” in SWOT, is a major challenge to Montefiore Medical Center. This is, in fact, a challenge for all healthcare organizations, particularly under current conditions defined by uncertain unfolding of COVID-19 effects. The introduction of an Investor Relations Manager is, accordingly, inevitable. The Investor Relations Manager is responsible for attracting more investors to Investor Relations Manager, coordinating efforts with Business Development Manager, and securing emergency funding for Montefiore Medical Center to support emerging cases, particularly ones requiring prolonged intervention and prohibitive cost.
