There has been growing interest on the role of spirituality in healthcare, given that the individuals can cope better when healthcare is holistic. Caregivers may suffer from burnout, but this may not be adequately addressed highlighting the importance of coping mechanisms. Spirituality has positive effects since individuals have a positive outlook on live, religious commitment and social support also improve stress control (Craigie, 2011). Additionally, the emotionally mature individuals are able to handle issues more critically without blaming others for their own failures.

Scazzero & Bird (2003), divide the assessment into the spiritual aspects and emotional health of an individual. The spiritual identify of an individual is an important aspect to their ability to connect and empathize with others. The spiritual and emotional maturity assessment focuses on the stages that people go through in emotional maturity. The first stage is the emotional infant, which relates to those who are dependent, this is then followed by the emotional child, and this indicates that people are happy with possession. The third stage is the emotional adolescent the last stage is the emotional adult. The score for part A was 22, with the emotional adolescent falling at a score of 17 while emotional represented by a score of 23 or higher.
Scazzsero & Bird (2003), pointed out that the emotional well-being of individuals can be improved by their ability to break from the past.
