I also discuss different types of evidence and how we critically evaluate the quality of that particular piece of evidence. Research is classified broadly into two types: Quantitative and Qualitative. I do discuss the differences between these types during the lecture just so you have a basic awareness, but do not worry too much about this because we will get into this more in your BSN research course. What I really want you to focus on is how to recognize a research article (of any type) when you see one. A research article contains specific components: Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References. *Also reference the pyramid picture at the top of this page for the hierarchy of evidence. The following assignment provides insight into four different types of evidence. The first piece of evidence is a guideline. The guideline illustrates the effects of sleepiness and fatigue on patients’ safety and nurses’ performance. The second piece of evidence is an opinion article. The link redirects to a website known as Cincinnati.com. Ungar (2015), provides her view on the dangers of nursing fatigues. The evidence provided on the website is not peer reviewed since it is not written by an expert in the nursing field nor reviewed by other experts before the publishing (Ungar, 2015). The third piece of evidence is a research article. The research is conducted and written by an expert and peer-reviewed by other experts before being published in the Journal of Nursing Management. The fourth evidence is an expert source. The evidence consists of well-researched materials compiled and published in a book in an organized fashion.
How strong is each article to change the clinical practice?
