The quality of healthcare services plays an important role in building or destroying the reputation of a healthcare center. Therefore, healthcare management needs to ensure that quality measurements are done from time to time, to ensure that the facility offers the best services. Various metrics aid a lot in determining the quality of services. These metrics ensure that the healthcare facility can implement changes to any service that has proved to be of poor quality. Such initiatives ensure that patients receive the best healthcare at any given moment.
One of the quality metrics to put in place is patients’ safety. Patient safety focuses on all aspects that ensure that the patient is free from harm while at the healthcare facility. For instance, falls contribute to a large percentage of the injuries that occur in hospitals. A good way for fall prevention is to ensure that the facility doesn’t have slippery floors or other obstacles that can cause an injury (Heng et al., 2020). Therefore, collecting data about healthcare on the number of falls that occur among patients can help in knowing what needs to be changed. Additionally, data should be collected through observation and interviews with patients to ensure all safety issues are addressed.
