In Pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Ultrasound Diagnostics
I knew I wanted to be involved in medicine when I was eight. Back then, whenever I visited my sick uncle in the hospital and watched how the nurses and doctors cared for him, I felt the medical field was a perfect place where humanity, science, technology, and public relations blended to combat illnesses and prevent deaths. Even though my uncle passed on a few months later, my visits to the hospital had set me on a trajectory that would see me working in a health facility. My goal was to be in a position where I could help as many people as possible while being paid for it.
After high school, I volunteered as a receptionist at a local sports clinic, where my roles included welcoming, assisting, and directing patients and visitors. I also responded to inquiries through phone calls, scheduling appointments, following up on patients, and filing, scanning, and mailing documents as required by my superiors. What stood out in this position was the ease with which I interchanged operating technology (or IT) equipment like computers, printers, and scanners to communicate with a diverse population of superior colleagues, patients, and visitors.
